Reports to: Operations Manager
The job of every employee of Tentinger Landscapes is to contribute to the success of the company by helping it grow sales and profits.
The Yard Manager does this by:
Tasks Include:
- Verifies all material delivered to the yard for quantity, condition, and correctness of material per Tentinger material Purchase Receipts.
- Keeps yard organized, clean, and free of debris.
- Organizes material deliveries in the yard by project and/or material type.
- On a weekly basis will use marking paint to delineate parking areas for crew trucks, trailers, and employee parking.
- Ensures all trucks, trailers, equipment, and buildings are locked at the end of each day. Keys are to be placed in designated locations overnight.
- Turns on power to fuel in morning and turns power off at end of day, following return of all crews and field associates.
- Every Monday: physically counts and verifies all inventory in yard and provides completed inventory sheet to Operations Manager.
- Manages irrigation, health, and care for nursery stock and/or inventory trees.
- Keeps and maintains bulk material bins in neat and tidy order. Materials in such bins are to be stacked evenly for ease of crew loading.
- Seeing to it that company and customer property is handled carefully, without loss or damage and that the yard and yard buildings are kept clean and professional looking at all times.
- Repairing or replacing broken items in the yard and yard buildings underneath the $100 threshold. Repairs or replacements above this dollar amount are to be approved by Operations Manager.
- Serves to monitor the facility which includes but is not limited to: climate control unit function (air conditioning and HVAC), water and gas plumbing, buildings, roofs, and general maintenance and repair management. Large repairs (over $500) must be approved in advance by Property Owner.
- Serves as the voice of the company and creates a caring, professional, friendly and helpful impression of Tentinger Landscapes in all dealings with customers, vendors, associates and others.
- Any and all other tasks for yard as assigned by Operations Manager.
Specific Responsibilities, in addition to those listed above, include:
- Controlling costs in all work they are assigned to.
- Being flexible in work assignments so the company can meet changing yard and Tentinger associate needs and commitments.
- Keeping their work area and file storage locations clean and well organized at all times.
- Helping the company find ways to improve its operations, increase sales and control costs.
- Serving as a good company representative and treating all vendors, customers, and potential customers with honesty and respect in all business dealings.
- Communicating effectively and promptly and working in a spirit of cooperation with customers, management, employees, contractors, suppliers and co-workers.
- Demonstrating good judgment and reasoning in the performance of their duties.
- Following all company policies and procedures and recommending improvements to them when warranted.
- Performing their jobs in compliance with all applicable legal requirements and with the ethical standards set by the company, and handling all materials in compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Seeing to it that all injuries, regardless of how minor, are treated properly and are recorded in the appropriate forms.
- Performing other duties as may be assigned.
- Continually improving their professional skills and job performance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Many of the functions of this position are performed in the company’s offices, which are temperature and humidity controlled.
- Certain functions of this position may be performed in other offices or at the properties of clients, including both in and out of doors, and which are beyond the control of the company.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: Prior experience in yard management is required, preferably landscaping.
- The ability to use a personal computer and word processing and spreadsheet programs (i.e. MS Word and Excel) and e-mail are required.
- Must be able to calmly and professionally deal with vendor, yard, and facility problems.
- A drivers license and reliable means of transportation to our office is required.
- Must be available during the company’s regular office hours and occasional early mornings, nights and weekends.
